Mount Vesuvius live cam

Naples, Italy

Live stream by Paesaggi Digitali on YouTube. All rights belong to the broadcaster. Watch on YouTube ↗

A live camera looking at the western side of Mount Vesuvius, the volcano that towers over Naples, from Portici on the Bay of Naples.

Mount Vesuvius, 1,281 meters high, is one of the most famous volcanoes in the world. Its eruption in 79 AD buried the Roman towns of Pompeii and Herculaneum, and its last eruption was in 1944. Because around three million people live in its shadow, it is also one of the most closely studied volcanoes on Earth.

This camera is installed at a research institute in Portici, just south of Naples, and looks at the volcano's western slopes. Watch clouds gather around the summit, sunsets turn the mountain pink, and on clear days follow the path hikers take up to the crater rim.

Live streams sometimes pause for maintenance or bad weather. We check every camera twice a day.
