Last updated: October 2026
This policy explains what information Walking Atlas (walkingatlas.com) collects when you visit the site and how it is used. We do not ask you to create an account, and we do not sell your personal data.
Information we collect
You can browse Walking Atlas without an account. Like most websites, our hosting provider may automatically log technical data such as your IP address, browser type and the pages you visit, for security and to keep the site running. If you contact us by email, we use your message only to reply to you.
Accounts and comments
To post or like comments, you sign in with Google (or, in the future, Apple). We receive your name, email address and profile picture from that service. Your name and profile picture are shown publicly next to your comments; your email address is never shown publicly. We store your comments, likes and reports so the comment section can work and to fight spam and abuse. Account data is stored with our database provider, Supabase.
You can delete your own comments at any time. To delete your account and all associated data, please contact us. Sign-in uses a cookie to keep you logged in; it is only set if you choose to sign in.
Embedded YouTube videos
Videos on Walking Atlas are embedded from YouTube using its privacy-enhanced mode, and the player is only loaded when you press play. Once a video loads, YouTube (Google) may set cookies and collect data according to Google's Privacy Policy.
Advertising
We may show ads served by Google AdSense and other advertising partners. These third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this and other websites. Google's use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads based on your visits to our site and other sites on the internet.
You can opt out of personalized advertising by visiting Google Ads Settings or aboutads.info. Visitors in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom and Switzerland are asked for consent before personalized ads are shown.
Affiliate links
Some links, for example to hotel or tour booking sites, may be affiliate links. If you make a booking through them we may earn a small commission at no extra cost to you. These partners may use cookies to track referrals.
Cookies
Walking Atlas does not require cookies to browse. A sign-in cookie is set only if you sign in to comment, and other cookies may be set by the third parties described above. You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings at any time.
Children
This site is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their personal information.
Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct or delete personal data we hold about you. To make a request, please contact us.
