A live camera on the main approach to Fushimi Inari Taisha, the Kyoto shrine famous for its thousands of red torii gates.
Fushimi Inari Taisha is the head shrine of Inari, the god of rice and prosperity, and one of the most visited places in Japan. Behind its main buildings, paths lined with thousands of vermilion torii gates, each donated by a business or family, wind up the forested Mount Inari.
This camera watches the main approach in front of the shrine, where visitors arrive from the station and stalls sell grilled snacks. It is part of a network run to show visitors how crowded Kyoto's sights are; the shrine is open around the clock, and early mornings are the calmest.
Live streams sometimes pause for maintenance or bad weather. We check every camera twice a day.
