Aguadilla, on Puerto Rico's northwest coast, is known for its surf beaches, especially Crash Boat, with its colorful pier and clear blue water.

Beaches

Crash Boat Beach has a famous concrete pier where locals jump into the turquoise water. Surf spots like Wilderness and Gas Chambers attract surfers in winter.

The town

The old town has a waterfront park, a historic church and Las Cascadas water park.

Good to know

Aguadilla has its own airport, Rafael Hernández, with direct flights from the US mainland, which makes the northwest easy to reach. Crash Boat Beach is busy on weekends but calm on weekdays. The coast between Aguadilla, Isabela and Rincón is the surfing heart of Puerto Rico, with dozens of breaks. Las Cascadas Water Park and an ice skating rink, unusual in the tropics, are local family favorites.

Why people love it

Aguadilla's coast is lined with limestone cliffs, hidden coves and beaches, many reached by short trails. The ruins of an old Spanish lighthouse stand on the cliffs at Punta Borinquen, a beautiful spot at sunset. The town center has a waterfront park, the Parque Colón, and an old fort. Aguadilla is relaxed and less touristy than San Juan, with seafood kiosks along the shore serving fried snacks and fresh fish.
