Ayia Napa, on the southeastern tip of Cyprus, grew from a fishing village into the island's best-known beach resort. Its white sand beaches and turquoise water are among the finest in the Mediterranean, and its nightlife draws young visitors from all over Europe.
Beaches and the coast
Nissi Beach, with a small island you can wade to, and Makronissos Beach are the most famous of the town's beaches. A coastal path leads east past sea caves carved into the cliffs to Cape Greco National Park, with natural rock arches and crystal-clear coves such as Konnos Bay.
The town
In the center, the 16th-century Ayia Napa Monastery, with its fountain and ancient sycamore tree, is a quiet contrast to the bars and clubs around the main square. The harbor is a base for boat trips along the coast.
