Murree, a colonial-era hill station in the pine-covered hills north of Islamabad, is Pakistan's most popular mountain getaway, especially when it snows in winter.

Mall Road

Mall Road, the main promenade, is lined with shops, hotels and food stalls and is crowded with families in summer and winter.

Around

Kashmir Point and Pindi Point offer views over the hills. Patriata has a chairlift and cable car, and nearby Nathia Gali and Ayubia offer forest walks.

Good to know

Murree is about an hour's drive from Islamabad on a modern expressway, but traffic can be heavy on weekends and holidays. In winter, heavy snowfall can close roads, so check conditions before going. Mall Road is closed to cars, which makes evening walks pleasant. Nearby, the Galiyat area, including Nathia Gali and Ayubia, has forest trails such as the Pipeline Track, a flat path through pine forests with views over the valleys.
