The Hunza Valley, in Pakistan's far north, is surrounded by some of the highest mountains on Earth, including Rakaposhi and Ultar Sar. Its villages, orchards and forts make it one of the most beautiful places in Asia.
Karimabad
Karimabad, the main town, is overlooked by the 700-year-old Baltit Fort. The older Altit Fort stands above the river. In spring, apricot and cherry blossoms cover the valley.
The Karakoram
The Karakoram Highway, one of the highest paved roads in the world, runs through the valley. Attabad Lake, formed by a landslide in 2010, is a stunning turquoise color. The Passu Cones are jagged peaks further north.
