Central Tokyo to Mt. Fuji: Japan Scenic Drive

A real-time morning drive from the heart of Tokyo to the foot of Mount Fuji, filmed on 26 February 2024, the day after a snowfall. It begins on Rainbow Bridge, follows the Metropolitan Expressway past Shinjuku and leaves the city on the Chūō Expressway at the Hachiōji toll gate.

From there the road climbs into the mountains of Yamanashi, past Dangozaka service area and Ōtsuki junction, and the landscape turns white as it nears Fujiyoshida. The drive ends at the Narusawa roadside station, 990 metres up on Fuji's north side. It is the closest thing to a day trip from Tokyo to Fuji without leaving your sofa.
