Heavy Snowfall in Kyoto: Gion, Yasaka Shrine, Kiyomizu Temple

Kyoto under heavy snow on Friday 21 January 2022. The walk starts in the old geisha district of Miyagawachō and the Ebisu Shrine, crosses the Shijō Bridge into Gion and walks Hanamikōji Street, then reaches the Yasaka Shrine and Maruyama Park blanketed in white.

It continues along Nene-no-Michi past Kōdai-ji and down the stepped lanes of Ichinenzaka, Ninenzaka and Sannenzaka to Kiyomizu-dera, where it spends a long time among the snowy temple buildings, returning by Chawanzaka. A rare and magical sight.
