Marina Bay is the showcase of modern Singapore, a waterfront district built on reclaimed land around a bay. The three towers of Marina Bay Sands, linked by a boat-shaped SkyPark, have become a symbol of the city.

The bay

Gardens by the Bay is a futuristic park with the Supertree Grove, giant tree-like structures that light up during the nightly Garden Rhapsody show, and two huge glass conservatories, the Flower Dome and the Cloud Forest, with an indoor waterfall.

Across the water, the Merlion statue, half lion and half fish, spouts water in front of the skyline. The waterfront promenade loops around the bay past the ArtScience Museum, shaped like a lotus flower, and the Helix Bridge.

Visiting tips

The free Spectra light and water show runs every evening at the Marina Bay Sands Event Plaza. The heat is intense, so explore in the early morning or evening. Clarke Quay and Boat Quay, along the Singapore River, are lively nightlife areas nearby.
