Sopot, between Gdańsk and Gdynia, is Poland's most famous seaside resort, with sandy beaches, a lively pedestrian street and the longest wooden pier in Europe.

The pier

The Molo, a wooden pier more than 500 meters long, stretches into the Baltic. The beaches on either side are popular in summer.

Monte Cassino Street

Bohaterów Monte Cassino Street, the pedestrian main street, is famous for the Crooked House, a building that looks like it is melting. Sopot is known for its nightlife.

A day in Sopot

Walk down Monte Cassino Street, the pedestrian main street, past the Crooked House, a building with wavy walls. Then stroll the wooden pier, the longest in Europe at over 500 meters.

Spend the afternoon on the sandy beach and the evening in the bars and clubs.

Good to know

Sopot is the summer resort of the Tricity, very busy in July and August.

The Opera Leśna, an open-air theater in the forest, hosts concerts in summer.

Why it is so popular

Sopot became a fashionable spa resort in the 19th century, and its elegant villas, the Grand Hotel on the beach and the Kurhaus remind visitors of that golden age. Today it is Poland's most famous seaside town, and in summer the beach, the pier and Monte Cassino Street are full of holidaymakers from early morning until late at night.

Outside the high season, Sopot is calm and charming. The seaside promenade runs for kilometers along the Baltic, and you can walk or cycle all the way to Gdańsk or Gdynia. The forested hills behind the town have walking trails and viewpoints over the bay.
