Auckland, New Zealand's largest city, is built on an isthmus between two harbors and dotted with dozens of volcanic cones. It is called the City of Sails for its many boats.
The waterfront
The Sky Tower, the tallest freestanding structure in the Southern Hemisphere, offers views and even a bungee-style SkyJump. Viaduct Harbour and the Wynyard Quarter are lined with restaurants and yachts.
Volcanoes and islands
Mount Eden, a dormant volcano, has a crater and a view over the city. Ferries go to Waiheke Island, known for vineyards and beaches, and to Rangitoto, a young volcanic island.
