Driving Lisbon: On the Way to Downtown

A drive into Lisbon that shows the modern side of the city most visitors skip. Starting near the airport, it passes through Moscavide into the Parque das Nações riverside district built for Expo 98, with the Vasco da Gama Tower, the Altice Arena and the white steel canopy of Oriente Station.

From there the route heads towards the centre through residential neighbourhoods such as Alvalade, past the São João de Deus church and Bairro do Rego. Good for seeing everyday Lisbon beyond the old town.
